
The Corgi Keychain started with a client's concept art for a stylised corgi character: a squat, rounded shape with oversized ears and just enough personality to make people smile. The brief was straightforward: turn the character into a physical keychain and produce a batch of 30. At roughly 3 × 3 × 3 cm per piece, every detail had to hold up at small scale across three colours of PLA.
We modelled the corgi in Blender, working from the client's artwork to nail the proportions and expression. The real challenge was preparing the model for multi-colour FDM on the Prusa Core One+ with its MMU. Black filament bled into the beige body at colour transitions, and fine details like the eyes printed as little more than surface marks at this scale. We adjusted part intersections, enlarged critical features, and designed custom supports that kept each piece stable across a fully packed build plate.
This was our first multi-colour production run on the MMU, and the process demanded more calibration than a single-colour batch. The combination of small geometry, three filament changes per layer, and a tightly packed plate left no room for loose tolerances. Each iteration brought the colour boundaries closer to where they needed to be, and each test print confirmed or eliminated a theory about where the bleed was coming from.
The fix that made everything else work was per-transition purge tuning in PrusaSlicer. Black-to-beige needed a very different purge volume from orange-to-beige, and dialling in each transition independently was what finally cleared the contamination. Heat-set inserts solved the keychain ring attachment after self-tapping screws kept snapping in the small PLA boss.

The final batch printed cleanly. Thirty corgis in orange, beige, and black PLA, each fitted with a small metal keychain ring. No post-processing, no painting, just the print straight off the bed. The client was pleased, and the consistent reaction from everyone who has held one is the same: they are unreasonably cute.
